For more than a century, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) has served as the non-partisan, voice of business in the province. The OCC is the indispensable partner of business and Canada’s largest, most influential provincial chamber. It is an independent, non-profit advocacy and member services organization.
The OCC has 60,000 members, including large multinational corporations, small-to-medium-sized enterprises, labour unions, postsecondary institutions, non-profits, associations and close to 160 chambers of commerce and boards of trade.
The OCC’s mission is to convene, align and advance the interests of its members through principled policy work, value-added business services and broad engagement to drive competitiveness and economic growth in the province.
As President and CEO, you will play a critical and high-profile role on behalf of OCC and with its Chamber and corporate members. Building on a strong personal commitment to business in Ontario, you will understand and represent the issues and challenges facing the Chamber’s membership and will bring a set of personal and professional attributes equal to the challenge of the role. Experience working in a complex, multiple-stakeholder environment will be essential for success. You will facilitate open, effective communications within the organization and with key stakeholders to maintain a strong, integrated organization based on a focused and shared vision. You will ensure that the Chamber continues to be a responsible “go-to” organization for policy makers, the media, members, and the public.
A proven senior level executive of a private, public or non-profit organization, you have experience reporting to a Board of Directors, managing a member focused operation, driving growth and leading innovative change. Success in the role includes: exceptional leadership ability; a demonstrated track record of achievement; an existing network; broad community respect; and, a record of cultivating relationships with diverse stakeholders.
