Deputy City Manager, Community & Social Services, City of Toronto

Toronto is Canada’s leading economic engine and one of the world’s most diverse and liveable cities. As the largest city in Canada and fourth largest city in North America, Toronto is home to more than 2.9 million residents and is an international leader in technology, finance, film, music, culture, and innovation. The City consistently places at the top of international rankings due in part to investments championed by residents and businesses. Toronto is led by City Council and its directions are carried out through the work of a very professional public service.

Reporting to the City Manager, the Deputy City Manager, Community & Social Services (DCM), is a key leader in delivering on the City’s strategic priorities related to ensuring that all Torontonians and neighbourhoods can fully participate in the social and economic life of Toronto, by prioritizing the needs of the vulnerable while nurturing and supporting a "Toronto for All". The DCM takes leadership of the Community and Social Services' divisions which support the City's efforts in tackling some significant social challenges, including affordable housing, economic & social development, public health, paramedic, fire services, senior services and long-term care. The DCM facilitates the development and implementation of cross-departmental synergies, tackles roadblocks and implements corporate-wide operational improvement, promotes service excellence, and policies in collaboration with other members of the Senior Leadership Team, the City Manager and City Council. Representing the City to the public and media is a key responsibility of the DCM, while developing productive working relationships with external stakeholders in ensuring that the City of Toronto evolves, improves, and realises its full potential.
