Chief Strategy and Public Affairs Officer, Waterfront Toronto
Toronto
Waterfront Toronto is at the forefront of one of the world’s most ambitious urban revitalization projects, transforming Toronto’s lakeshore into a vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive waterfront that blends cutting-edge design with community needs. As a collaborative public-private partnership driving millions in investment, pioneering environmental innovation, and shaping the city’s future, they are now seeking a Chief Strategy and Public Affairs Officer to lead bold strategic planning and stakeholder engagement that will define the next chapter of this transformative initiative. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to influence Toronto’s skyline, forge powerful government alliances, and leave an indelible mark on the city for decades to come.
As Chief Strategy and Public Affairs Officer, you will be a key member of Waterfront Toronto’s senior executive team, providing strategic leadership and counsel to the CEO, Board of Directors, and senior management across a politically sensitive, multi-stakeholder landscape. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing long-term strategic plans that align with government priorities and community expectations. In this capacity, you will oversee communications, branding, and reputation management strategies, drive public and government engagement at all levels, and forge partnerships to advance economic development and waterfront activation. You will also oversee the development of policy frameworks, resolve high-profile issues, and advise on strategic initiatives, ensuring that Waterfront Toronto remains a transparent, accountable, and forward-thinking steward of revitalization. Exceptional judgment, political acuity, and a proven ability to navigate complex issues and secure government support are essential as you help steer vision into reality.
The ideal candidate is a dynamic senior leader with extensive experience in political and administrative government relations, public policy, strategic planning, and communications. A forward-thinking strategist with deep knowledge of political environments and processes at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels, this person brings established connections across all three. Proven expertise in crafting and executing strategic plans, managing reputational risks, and navigating complex stakeholder engagements will be critical to influencing government, media, and community partners. With a strong background in public speaking, issues management, and leading high-profile initiatives, this individual will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, shaping policy frameworks and driving impactful strategies aligned with their revitalization mission.
