Reporting to the General Manager of Corporate Services, the Director of Finance & CFO leads the Finance Division to ensure collaboration and the achievement of planned business outcomes. The Director of Finance & CFO is responsible for contributing to the design of, and implementing, strategy and innovations in the corporation’s finance functions including treasury management, service-based budgeting, management and public performance reporting. The Director leads the preparation of the corporation’s Business Plan covering approximately $750M in operating and capital expenditures across 58 lines of service. Accountable for the corporation’s core finance functions including Accounting, Financial Planning and Budgeting, Purchasing, Revenue Management, Risk Management and oversight of the City’s $500M Investment portfolio the Director leads and supports a team of skilled finance professionals.
With a continuous improvement mindset and an emphasis on innovation, the ideal candidate has a university degree in a related discipline, preferably in Economics, Business Administration or Commerce, including several accounting courses at the intermediate level from a recognized University with Canadian accreditation. You have directly related experience at a senior management level in large, unionized, and highly diverse public or private sector organizations, including experience leading a similar function. You have a solid understanding of current and emerging issues affecting local government policies, financing choices and service delivery and can demonstrate a high capacity for financial and economic analysis and planning, with reference to municipal finance.
