The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) is a non-partisan, research-based industry association that advocates on behalf of the member companies, large and small, that explore for, develop, and produce oil and natural gas throughout Canada. CAPP’s members produce nearly three quarters of Canada’s annual oil and natural gas production and provide more than 450,000 direct and indirect jobs in nearly all regions of Canada. According to the most recently published data, the industry contributes over $71 billion to Canada’s GDP, as well as $46 billion in taxes and royalties to governments across the country. CAPP is a solution-oriented partner and works with all levels of government to ensure a thriving Canadian oil and natural gas industry.
The association is now looking for a Senior Advisor, Federal Affairs reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Public Policy and Strategic Engagement. The Senior Advisor, Federal Affairs is a key member of the Sustainability, External Relations and Indigenous Affairs team. The Senior Advisor is responsible for coordinating legislative and regulatory initiatives, providing expert advice on parliamentary affairs, and building relationships with key federal stakeholders. Proactive and dynamic, the Senior Advisor has a strong presence on the Hill, effectively communicating and advocating for members. This is a non-partisan role that builds strong relationships across diverse stakeholder groups to implement effective advocacy strategies.
As the ideal candidate, you bring proven ability to influence and advocate at the federal level, making an impactful contribution to key decision-making processes. Formal training in public policy, political science, or public relations along with experience working on Parliament Hill will set you apart as a candidate. You thrive in complex legislative environments in highly regulated sectors such as energy, environment, or life sciences. You have a keen attention to detail, along with strong analytical and strategic technical abilities. Your verbal and written communication skills are exceptional, and you demonstrate strong problem-solving and organizational capabilities. You are a self-starter with excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, capable of working both independently and as part of a team while adeptly managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments. Bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
