Alberta Pensions Services Corporation (APS) guides the pension experience on behalf of Alberta's public sector pension plans by providing administrative services to more than 500 participating employers across Alberta. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, APS provides pension-related services to over 430,000 of their clients’ members and pensioners and manages receipts and disbursements of over $6.7 billion in pension plan funds annually to and from employers, members, and other pension plans. APS pursues excellence in pension benefits administration, to serve those who serve Albertans.
Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Vice President, Human Resources & Organizational Development (VP HROD) plays a critical leadership role in shaping and executing the organization’s comprehensive talent strategy. This executive is responsible for aligning human resources, organizational development, payroll, and education functions with the organization’s strategic objectives, ensuring a high performing, engaged workforce. The VP HROD will drive forward-thinking HR initiatives that foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement while serving as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team and the Board of Directors. With a deep commitment to customer-focused HR services, the VP HROD will champion employee engagement, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness.
The ideal candidate is a recognized leader in human resources strategy and organizational development, bringing a track record of success in executive-level HR roles. Holding a Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, human resources, industrial relations, law, or a related discipline, the candidate ideally possesses professional designations such as the Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL). Experience in complex, unionized environments is essential, with demonstrated expertise in leading human resource initiatives, fostering strong labour and stakeholder relationships, and cultivating dynamic, inclusive workplace cultures. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in talent management, leadership development, organizational design, and workforce planning. Agile and business-minded, they will champion transparency, respect, and collaboration, ensuring HR strategies drive sustainable growth and operational excellence.
